Melissa is an experienced solicitor working in the public law team. She accepts instructions on contracts and commercial agreements, company law, charity law and governance, procurement and state aid. She can also advise on compliance, risk management and data protection. She has extensive experience of sitting on strategic project boards and providing legal advice on change/restructuring, divestments and disposals, outsourcing and employment law.

After several years’ service as a police constable, Melissa changed career and read law at the University of Essex. She graduated and completed her Legal Practice Course and then worked for an insurance broker on public liability, employer’s liability, construction and professional negligence claims.

Melissa then trained in private practice and qualified as a solicitor in 2012. After a period in private practice, she moved in-house and practised commercial law in the construction and engineering industry, and then with the Construction Industry Training Board, before joining nplaw in January 2020.

Away from the office, she enjoys surfing, bodyboarding and yoga.
