nplaw staff are Finalists in the Lawyers in Local Government (LLG) Awards
We are delighted to announce that two members of nplaw’s Planning and Environmental Law Team, Steve Bell and Nikki Fonseka, are Finalists in the Lawyers in Local Government (LLG) Awards this year.
Steven Bell
Steve has been shortlisted as a Finalist in the Lawyers in Local Government (LLG) Awards in the category of Place Lawyer of the Year in relation to his work on Thorpe Island for the Broads Authority. Commenting on this difficult case, Cally Smith, Head of Planning, Broads Authority, said:
“This has been a long, complex, dynamic and frustrating case. Steven has been tenacious, professional and a joy to work with. Steven’s persistence and commitment has sustained us through some dark and difficult periods”
Steve has also been busy writing for the Local Government Lawyer. Look out for his article on Concealment Cases which has just been published.
Nikki Fonseka
Nikki has also been shortlisted as a Finalist in the LLG Awards, this time in the category of CILEx Lawyer of the Year. She was nominated by Jane Linley for her work in standardising Section 106 agreements across all the local authorities in Norfolk. Jane said:
“Nikki’s achievement in getting so many parties to agree a standard s.106 agreement cannot be overstated. She has been involved in difficult and complex negotiations not only with her own clients but also with affordable housing providers and their lenders. She has managed to secure agreement to standard documentation which results in ease of instruction for her clients, avoids further unnecessary legal documents and saves money. Major developments can now progress without unwarranted delay”
The winner in each category will be announced on the Awards night at the Burlington Hotel, Birmingham on 24th November 2017. We wish Nikki and Steve all the best.
