Practice Director, nplaw job vacancy

21 December 2017 | Category ,

Up to £93,000 plus relocation plus pension.

Come and be part of Norfolk’s ambitious future.

Norfolk is a great place to live and work and as the largest provider of public services the County Council has great ambitions for Norfolk and its people. Our priorities are focused on driving economic growth and delivering modern services to the residents of Norfolk.

nplaw is the County Council’s award-winning legal service which provides legal advice and support to the Council, other local authorities and other public sector and non-profit organisations nationwide. Whilst we remain a local authority legal practice, with public sector values and owned by and run for the benefit of County, City and District Councils in Norfolk, we operate like an ordinary commercial law firm. Understanding our clients’ needs and providing excellent customer-focused advice are our goals.

nplaw’s client list continues to grow, including local authorities nationwide, health, pensions and academy bodies, parish councils and others. nplaw’s Practice Director will have the energy, drive and vision to lead the continuing growth of nplaw, achieving ambitious income targets and making sure we have the workforce we need to succeed and can attract and develop the very best from the legal world. Motivated by challenge and complexity, this role requires a solicitor or barrister operating at senior level, who can provide excellent leadership for nplaw and harness a positive culture of high expectations.

The Practice Director will also deputise for the County Council’s Chief Legal Officer and Monitoring Officer and should therefore understand the ethical and governance considerations of a local authority and be able to advise, engage and influence at Cabinet/Committee/Board level.

Join us and contribute your extensive legal, commercial and management skills to secure better outcomes for the people of Norfolk.

This is a politically restricted post, and the post holder cannot be an elected councillor in any local authority.

Please contact Nicky McDowell on 01603 223415 to arrange for an informal discussion about this post with the Chief Legal Officer.
